This section of the Order's website contains a history of both the medieval Order and how the movement has evolved into Templary today. It is presented in different formats to allow readers and researchers to quickly find the relevant information that they require. However, all pages are presented in scrollable formats to also allow a more leisurely browse through a history that is nearly one thousand years old. These pages have been produced by reference to a great deal of research; both publicly-available academic research and the Order's own records. To that end, we believe that the information given, in good faith, is as accurate as possible. However, we welcome constructive input and comment, and if you feel that you have additional material that might warrant inclusion (or have evidence of clarification), then please feel free to email the webmaster with the address given in the Contact section The adage that history is only recorded by the victors could be true, and therefore we try to cross-reference as many sources as possible before publishing. Where a fact cannot be definitively confirmed, you will find the entry written in a presumptive manner based on what we do know; uncertain dates are notated with a '?'. As Umberto Eco once wrote, “The Templars have something to do with everything” asserting that the Templars have played a part in all of history, somewhere along the line. However, some of the popular Templar stories are, in fact, mere legends and the artistic talent of the author concerned. Therefore, we have only included known historic fact, and any legendary or fictional characters are highlighted as such. We hope you enjoy using the information in this section, and we welcome your feedback.
